News RCTC Scholarship Information - 2008 Winner
The Daniel Lundgren Scholarship from RCTC to Russell Stephens at the Huntsville High School Awards Ceremony on 20 May 2008. Russell was called to the stage to receive the plaque and $500 check designating Russell as the Daniel Lundgren Scholarship winner for 2008. Russell was very pleasantly surprised to learn that he had also won one of the Kae Sunmner Einfeldt scholarships, and the $1000 that goes with it, from TCI. After 14 years of submitting applications to TCI, RCTC finally had a winner. The chairperson gives thanks to everyone who was involved with the scholarship program this year, whether it entailed the evaluation and scoring of the applications, the interviews or getting the plaque prepared for presentation. | "Live for Chicago…..It’s Saturday Night” That was the theme of this year’s Paramount Tall Club weekend. The Friday night event is always a costume party, so Brian and I gave it a lot of thought about what SNL character we wanted to be. We went way back to some of the original characters to find just the right one. I picked Roseanne Roseannadanna, the Weekend Update personality that was portrayed by Gilda Radner. Getting my hair just right was the most difficult part of that costume. I used an entire tube of hair cement to get the volume and it still could have been bigger. Brian selected the John Belushi character, the Samurai for his attire. Of course the evening would not be complete without the Coneheads, the most popular outfit of the night. We won the best couples costume award for all of our hard work.
Saturday evening is our favorite part of a weekend, the semi-formal dinner and dance. Everyone always looks great in their tuxes and evening gowns, such a difference from the night before. Everyone talked of their Saturday afternoon outings, golf scores and great shopping finds in the Windy City. | UAH Arthritis Foundation Expo
On Saturday, May 10th, several club members set up a Tall Club Display at the Arthritis Foundation Expo and Walk at UAH. T he display featured photos of RCTC activities, listed requirements for membership, local charitable activities we participate in, RCTC business cards, free color hard copy newsletters, and sign up form. The members talked to everyone who came near the display, and especially kept an eye out for tall individuals who would qualify for club membership. We had several height qualified prospects who expressed interest and signed our prospect form. We have been following up with them and inviting them to RCTC activities.
